We’re taking over the Motley's AJ Skateworld (460 Old Courthouse Rd, Appomattox, VA 24522) in Appomattox for a marriage celebration that’s more "neon lights" than "white lace." Get ready to trade your dress shoes for four wheels (or just some comfortable socks) as we celebrate our love with a night of skating, snacks, and a whole lot of 80s and 90s vibes. What to Expect: The Vibe: High energy, retro fun, and definitely no seating charts. The Attire: "Casual-Chic-meets-Roller-Disco." Feel free to lean into the theme or just wear something you can move in! The Agenda: We’ll have plenty of floor time for the pros, rental skates for the brave, and a cozy snack bar area for those who prefer to cheer from the sidelines. Dinner will be served at 5:30pm across the street at Appomattox Inn and Suites. You can also get discounted room rates there if you mention our event! ------------------ Welcome to the weekend we officially say “I do!” Yes, we fully hijacked your long weekend — but we’re hoping it’s the kind that fills your cup, because you fill ours. Come comfy, come thirsty, and come ready to hang. ------------------ What to expect Friday | The Soft Launch Some folks will be rolling into town, so we’ll meet up in downtown Albemarle for welcome drinks and food trucks at Uwharrie Brewing. There may be karaoke later… no pressure, but also no guarantees of dignity. Give us a shout when you arrive! Saturday | The Main Event (but keep it chill) More friends and family will be trickling in, so treat the day as your permission slip to fully exhale. Sleep in. Sip coffee by the lake. Get a workout in (or don’t). Play lawn games. Meet new faces. Ease into the long weekend of love and lawn chairs (formerly known as Labor Day Weekend). Starting around 3:30pm, mosey on over to Jane’s backyard to grab a drink, catch up with old friends, and meet some new ones. 4:30pm – Quickie ceremony 5:30–9:30pm – PIVOT! Due to a mix up with the venue (and a gracious ceremony host) we will be staying a Jane's for dinner, drinks, and dancing! Sunday | Lake Day Energy We’ll have a DIY bagel breakfast spread at the main Airbnb guest house. If you’re the first one up, just wander over and start making noise. The afternoon is all about the lake — pontoon boat potential (any captains out there? or aspiring ones?), floating with noodles and lily pads, jumping in, or just hanging on the property playing games and relaxing. We’ll wrap the day with a catered NC BBQ dinner at the house around 7pm(ish). Monday | The Wind Down People will start heading home, so move slow or roll out whenever feels right. Breakfast and leftover dinner from Saturday will be available for casual munching.
